Help Us Honor Maile

Inspiring. Fierce. Tenacious. That’s Maile Zambuto.

As Joyful Heart’s CEO for the past nine years, Maile has been a catalyst for change and an inspiration to survivors, advocates, partners, and the women and men on the frontlines of the movement to prevent and end sexual and domestic violence and abuse. To honor her legacy as she takes the next steps in her journey, I hope you will join me in making a gift to Joyful Heart. An anonymous donor will match your gift—dollar for dollar—up to $250,000 until December 31.

When Maile took the helm of Joyful Heart, in service of Mariska’s bold vision for the future, no one could have imagined how far we would go. Her courage and her grace inspired and touched the lives of countless survivors she has met while traveling the country and through our online community. With her tenacity, Joyful Heart’s public awareness campaigns brought the issues of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse into living rooms, onto billboards, and into major magazines, spreading the message to end this violence forever to millions of people. And through her fierce advocacy, Joyful Heart has become a leading national voice to end the backlog of hundreds of thousands of untested rape kits.

I am proud of Joyful Heart and all we have accomplished under Maile’s leadership. We have been working for years to elevate and turn up the volume on the national conversation about sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. At this watershed moment, with #MeToo and the “Silence Breakers” being named Time’s Person of the Year, it is gratifying to know that our transformative work plays a role in the change we are witnessing today.

"There is no fighter for this cause more fierce than Maile. Her magical fingerprints are on everything at Joyful Heart." — Mariska Hargitay

Today, the possibilities for our future are endless. In the coming year, Joyful Heart will continue pushing the national dialogue forward.

Maile's life work is creating a world that says to survivors: “We hear you. We believe you. You are not alone. Your healing is our priority.” Please join me in honoring her leadership by supporting Joyful Heart’s work and mission with a gift today.

On behalf of all of us at Joyful Heart, thank you for your support and commitment to our future.
