Hundreds of people attended Binge-Watch for a Cause, a daylong screening of the hit television show Younger, on Saturday, June 24, to benefit Joyful Heart’s initiatives. TV Land, Viacom, and Refinery29 hosted the event.

Joyful Heart Foundation celebrated the strength of a community determined to support survivors and to transform the way society responds to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse on May 22, 2017 at its 10th annual Joyful Revolution Gala.
Joyful Heart’s Founder and President Mariska Hargitay thanked guests for their support at the event held at Spring Studios in downtown Manhattan. The evening gathered survivors, advocates, state legislators, New York City officials, actors, celebrity chefs, non-profit groups, Joyful Heart’s board of directors, and event and dinner co-chairs. It also featured moving performances from Kathryn Gallagher and Cynthia Erivo.
Joyful Heart was honored to join leading domestic violence organizations in California in November 2016 to form a Learning Circle, convened by the Blue Shield of California Foundation. The Circle came together for six months of facilitated learning sessions to explore each organization's practices that lift up survivor-centered approaches with the purpose of producing a white paper for funders and the field at large.
Survivors and supporters excitedly lined up outside The Martlet Tattoo Parlor in Hollywood, California on May 13 to attend an all-day flash tattoo fundraiser to support Joyful Heart. The event organizer, Still Not Asking For It (SNAFI), promotes awareness and discussions of sexual assault and violence in our community and to say it is unacceptable.
Our Los Angeles Committee hosted a Spring Charity SoulCycle Ride on March 12 to benefit Joyful Heart's work to end sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse in California. Instructor Angela Davis — a five-time, all-American Olympian — filled the room with her magnetically positive energy as she led 50 adults on an inspiring ride.
On February 8th, Joyful Heart's committees partnered with Sugarfina to host a fun evening of candy tasting and shopping for a cause. Guests at this public event sipped sparkling water and champagne and sampled scrumptious champagne gummies, dark chocolate caramel hearts, butterfly gummies, and cherry heart gummies. Thank you to Sugarfina for opening your hearts and stores in New York, San Francisco, Manhattan Beach, Beverly Hills, Pasadena and Honolulu.
On December 1, 2016, 40 members of our tri-state-based community gathered at the home of Joyful Heart board member Sukey Novogratz and her husband, Mike, for a TALK event. Nancy Jo Sales, author of American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers, discussed how social media shapes and influences the minds and hearts of young girls, and its connection to violence against women.
