Journal Writing
Keeping a journal is a time-honored method of reflecting on our lives, of noticing what goes on both outside of our bodies and inside our hearts. Recording your private journey through the natural rhythms of life gives you a way to make sense of your experiences and to let that knowledge deepen your understanding of yourself. In fact, a journal may inspire you to learn more about what is already there inside you, waiting to be discovered through contemplation and writing. The act of putting thoughts and feelings on paper is, itself, a powerful exercise that makes one feel heard and acknowledged-a way of regaining perspective and control over the events that move through our lives.

It seems to me that those songs that have been any good, I have nothing much to do with the writing of them. The words have just crawled down my sleeve and come out on the page.
~Joan Baez
The act of putting pen to paper encourages pause for thought, this in turn makes us think more deeply about life, which helps us regain our equilibrium.
~Norbet Platt
Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.

The True and the Questions: A Journal
by Sabrina Ward Harrison
"I journal to understand my life as I'm living it. I use my journals as a place to put the things that spill out over the edges of my life: photo negatives, scraps of paper, poems I have heard and loved, my sorrow, and epiphanies, the true and the questions. My journals have become guideposts for my life. Maybe it's the same way for you, and so I invite you inside my world. With this journal, you can create the book you most want to find."
